I don’t fully believe in Astrology but damn, it’s always described my Leo personality pretty accurately, and my other Leos can agree that we can be very passionate and dedicated toward the things or people we love, while being very inconsistent in our approach, which can result in conflict and pain. My biggest struggle as an artist is trying to balance that burning passion with the constraints and limitations of regular life. I always describe this passion as a fire, a raging, messy inferno that can’t be contained, but if nurtured properly, can deliver something beautiful. And this is what this piece is, it’s a representation of my dual personality; when looking at this piece you get a first impression of greatness, but all over, you can see asymmetry, disorder, obsessive perfectionism disguised in messiness. Everyday I have a dialog reassuring myself that my flaws make me who I am, and that maybe they are an intrinsic part of my artist self.
